The Vision of the Viva Foundation of South Africa is to be instrumental in the transformation of informal settlement & other high-priority poverty areas into stable and safe neighbourhoods offering education, business-, employment and recreation opportunities to all members of the community. The aim is to establish service centres within the communities we serve, from where we can offer a palette of services with the help of strategic partners. Viva's Primary Focus is DEVELOPMENT through EDUCATION and included in our Educational Programmes, is Holistic Family Support. EDUCATIONAL INTERFACE 1. Early Childhood Development 2. Independent Education 3. Youth Development MAIN EDUCATION INITIATIVE: VIVA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS MODELS: Entry Level (main focus) Underprivileged Communities - School Fees 70%-80% subsidised through sponsorships and scholarships e.g. Viva Village Independent School, Alaska Informal Settlement, Mamelodi East Intermediate Level (secondary focus) - Medium Income families - School Fees 30 % subsidised through sponsorships and scholarships e.g. Viva Independent School, Refilwe Campus Private Level (future development, not yet implemented) - Full-paying private education a) Early Childhood Development b) Primary Education with Augmented CAPS Curriculum c) Aftercare & Youth d) Art & Music e) Cloud-based, Online Educational & Technology Based f) Sustainable Living Skills Training * Vegetable Gardens * Nature Conservation HOLISTIC FAMILY SUPPORT OF LEARNERS' HOME NUCLEUS AND EXTENDED COMMUNITY a) Feeding Scheme & Food Security b) GBV Prevention, Response & Victim Support c) Skills Development d) Enterprise Development We have 30 full-time staff and every year, approximately 800 people volunteer for Viva [pre-Covid times] Viva was founded in 2007 by Leon Kriel and Meleney Berry-Kriel. Viva is also registered in Germany as Viva Foundation e.V. and in the United Kingdom as Viva Foundation UK
