Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Join Us as a Temporary Safe Parent and Help Transform Communities! Become part of the ACTIVE FAMILY SUPPORT (AFS) Khusela Community Prevention Model and make a lasting impact by providing care for vulnerable children at risk of family separation. What is a Temporary Safe Parent? As a Temporary Safe Parent, you will provide a safe, nurturing home for children aged 0 – 17 years old, offering family-based care to those at risk. The AFS-Khusela Prevention Model focuses on early identification and support for families in crisis, working alongside community-based organisations to prevent family breakdowns. Depending on the nature of the care. The placement of children could be as temporary as 24 hours in emergency cases (e.g. children abandoned at hospitals) or 90 days or an option to Foster Care. What You’ll Do: · Complete the application and screening process · Receive training on the AFS-Khusela Prevention Model and Parental Skills (2 day initial training with post placement support). · Undergo a home visit and assessment · Get certified by a Statutory Official (Social Worker from the Department of Social Development) What You Need: · A valid Identity Document or Passport · Be 21 years or older · Be in good health · Have the means to support a child on a short term – medium term basis. · A criminal free record as safeguarding of children are our key priority. After certification and screening done by the Department of Social Development, you’ll join our AFS-Khusela Temporary Safe Parent Bank and be ready to offer support whenever needed. If you're passionate about making a difference in a child’s life and reviving the spirit of Ubuntu, join us! Together, we can prove that it still takes a village to raise a child.
