Help Joburg Child Welfare raise R50,000 for food parcels for 200 families in Eldorado Park.
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Our Masibambisane Community Centre ("Masi") in Eldorado Park includes an Early Childhood Development Centre (pre-school) catering for 40 children, as well as daily "afterschool" programmes reaching 310 older children. Eldorado Park is characterized by factors like poverty, unemployment, high crime rates, frequent school drop outs and many child headed households. It is a high risk area for children. Masi works intensely with with its beneficiaries and their households to keep children in family care in the community. Part of this is ensuring that all the children in the household have food to eat, even if they don't attend Masi's programmes. Food parcels are handed out to 200 households, on a rotational basis. The provision of parcels helps keep children away from crimes like stealing to eat and helps them to focus on productive activities, like school work.
