Help Play Africa raise R10,000 for unlocking a child's potential through STEM education

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

South Africa faces an urgent challenge when it comes to education. Of the 1.1 million who enter the school system at age 5, only 400,000 will graduate from high school. The challenge is particularly acute when it comes to #STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths). In these areas, South Africa’s performance consistently ranks at the bottom of global surveys -- from the World Economic Forum to the results in the Trends in International Maths and Science Study (TIMSS). According a report on South Africa's 2017 national senior certificate, 245,103 learners wrote the mathematics papers in 2017. Yet only 6,726 passed with the 80% needed to guarantee entry into most engineering degrees. Only 16,656 passed with 70% or more. Play Africa strives to fill that gap by making 21st-century playful learning available to everyone – from all walks of life and abilities. Everyone at Play Africa can try new experiences in #STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths), as well as the arts, that are locally-relevant and rooted in educational pedagogies. Over the last five years, we’ve created inclusive, vibrant, appropriate solutions in a South African society that is highly polarized, deeply unequal and characterised by exclusion. Play Africa’s exhibits and programmes are designed to celebrate every child’s innate curiosity, potential and humanity, and to invite people of all ages to discover, imagine, explore and learn together. One positive, supported experience in #STEM learning can ignite curiosity and build confidence that can last a lifetime. We are serving thousands of children, but with 1 million children under 10 just in our Gauteng province, the demand is much greater than we can meet with our existing resources. We urgently need your help to bring these experiences to more children.
