This awareness reaches up to 10 thousand people a year Shiloh House Crisis Centre began in 2006 as a result of our ‘Women of Worth’ street ministries during which UCEC came across an alarmingly high number of abused women and children in need of refuge. Shiloh House provides support and counselling services while serving as a safe haven for beneficiaries to deal with their circumstances while living a dignified life. The is a place for temporary relief where victims of gender-based violence, human trafficking and other forms of abuse stay until they can be resettled sustainably. Beneficiaries are provided with accommodation, food, clothing & toiletries, counselling, a care plan and referrals to specialised or long term services. Over and above these services, they are also assisted with health needs, a care plan – personal development, typing of CV’s and applications for jobs, ID documents and grants. EVENTS 1. Every year, UCEC prepares A Christmas party for the homeless and the underprivileged people. The party is a fun filled family day with lots of performing artists, food, jumping castles for the children and motivational talk. Each homeless individual (young and old) receives a Christmas present consisting of toiletries, toys and clothes donated by our sponsors. This is to make the homeless and the underprivileged get a sense of belonging to a family during the festive season. 2. Every year, UCEC prepares a graduation party for Impumelelo Pre-School for Grade R pupils going to Grade One. The function consists of fun and music performed by the pupils for their parents and for our sponsors. The day then proceeds with the presentation of certificates by UCEC management and sponsors. The pupils are also presented with stationery, school shoes and school bags to assist the children start of their new school year. 3.UCEC successfully planned and executed our Annual Anti-Human Trafficking 5km Walk since 2014. The walk’s primary objective is to raise awareness on Human Trafficking and to raise fundsfor abused women and children. This spectacular event consists of a fun filled day for the whole family. In 2015, our walk was supported by Rugby icon Tera Mthembu of The Sharks, who made a special guest appearance at the walk. In 2024, DJ & Entertainer J’Sbu joined us, adding his support to the event. In the future, we aim to raise more awareness, reaching more people and organisations from across the country.
