Mandela Day at Witkoppen Clinic

Witkoppen Clinic donors making a massive difference on Mandela Day.

On 18 July 2024, Witkoppen Clinic celebrated Mandela Day by launching a campaign to raise R67,000. This amount symbolizes 67 minutes of service to others, in line with Nelson Mandela’s legacy. The goal was to provide consultation fees for patients who cannot afford them. By donating just R100, individuals and businesses can make a tangible difference. The clinic aims to support as many patients as possible beyond that date. The Clinic is proud to announce that we were able to raise over R500 000, thanks to a donation of R480 000 from ROMPCO and support from Merrow Down Charity Club and additional individuals. made substantial donations towards this campaign. As a result, we were able to ensure that the first 60 patients received free consultations and medications on the day, a significant achievement that highlights the power of community and generosity. Significantly, the Clinic received a visit from the Randburg United Long and Local Taxi Association, in collaboration with Halfway Toyota. Their generous support included painting the walls of our Preventative Department (for moms and babies), thereby enhancing the environment for both patients and staff. Additionally, they kindly donated 35 food parcels to our EPWP staff, demonstrating a heartfelt commitment to those who tirelessly serve our communities in Diepsloot, Lion Park, and Msawawa. We warmly welcome this new partnership, especially since it aligns with the most frequently used transportation method for our patients and staff. ROMPCO also attended the Clinic, painting our ER consultation room and our Dentist waiting area, creating a more pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for all. Our day of giving didn’t stop there. Students at Dainfern Preparatory College and representatives from Bryanston Country Club graciously provided tea, peanut butter sandwiches, and fruits to our patients, ensuring they had nutritious snacks while waiting for their consultations. Curro Bryanston contributed by offering our patients soup and rolls as they excited the clinic, adding warmth and comfort to their day. Kwelanga Training played a crucial role as well donating clothing, blankets, and shoes to our patients. These donations were not only practical but also brought immense joy and relief to those in need. Witkoppen Clinic has also been receiving 65 Prego's & Chips from the Clubhouse at Chianti Lifestyle Estate in July in support of our staff and patients as they prioritise social justice. Today was a day filled with gratitude and community spirit. Witkoppen Clinic is deeply thankful to all our partners for their unwavering support and contributions. Their collective efforts made a profound difference in the lives of our patients and reinforced the importance of working together for a common good. Indeed, it takes a village to create meaningful change. A patient expressed their heartfelt appreciation, saying, “Thank you so much for today, we are honestly so grateful. We were not expecting this. God bless you all.” Mandela Day at Witkoppen Clinic was a testament to the power of collaboration and the profound impact we can have on our community when we come together with a shared purpose. We look forward to continuing this spirit of giving and making a lasting difference in the lives of those, we serve.
