Making Positive Change in Our Community

We strive to make positive change in our community, even in the lives of our staff members...

“I only discovered this year at the Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre mobile clinic that I’m HIV positive. I started getting severe headaches and bodily rash then I decided to do HIV testing. I then spoke to Gauta, the Community Liaison Officer who profoundly helped me in counseling me during the most difficult time of my life, because I was not expecting that,” says a staff member. You would never think this beautiful staff member had health issues, but that’s HIV for you. There are only a few staff members who think that simply because they work in the clinic they won’t be HIV positive. HIV is a global issue. This staff member says ever since she went to for her CD4 count, which was found to be above 350, she is now treating her condition by eating healthily, using condoms and has disclosed her status to her mother who is very supportive.
