Project Description We have been running Youth Friendly Services dealing primarily with drug and substance abuse awareness and prevention in Alexandra and its surrounding areas. We are strong advocates of the “prevention is better than cure” premise and have worked tirelessly to educate and empower the youth in our community. Very few people, adults and children alike, understand what addiction is and this ignorance has led contributed not only to the escalation in numbers of drug abusers in our community but also a gross mishandling of the situation. We are now working hard to educate parents and community members so that this effort becomes a team one and that together we can rid our community of drugs and the dealers. There are only five High Schools in Alexandra and each of them is struggling with what can only be described as a drug epidemic. This is frightful!! We have also begun doing work in the Harm Reduction space and are working with Nyaope addicts in the community because these boys actually do not deserve the treatment and abuse they get in communities. With your help we can do more!
