More about The Johannesburg Children's Home
The Johannesburg Children's Home provides family-like care to children who have lost parental care due to abandonment or removal because of abuse or severe neglect. We operate seven cottages on our premises, each providing for up to ten children. Children are admitted from the age of three years and may stay with us until they are twenty one. We are one of the oldest charitable organisations in Johannesburg, having been established in 1892. We have cared for many thousands of children since our inception. We provide for all the children's needs, from the basic needs through to ensuring access to education and healthcare. Many children have suffered trauma in their past and we help them to overcome these challenges. We implement extensive and holistic growth and development programmes, giving each child a very real prospect of growing to success and independence. As a Non-Profit Organisation we are largely reliant on donor support. We value both direct financial contributions as well as donations of goods and services.
