More about Fountain of Love Orphanage
FountainOf Love was established in 2003 in Katlehong Tshongweni Section. Even though we started as orphanage our vision ended up expanding due to the informalsettlementsthatsurround our area. For the current financial year, our numbers have grown drastically, and they continue to do so. We cater for about 350 people this number consists of orphans, the disabled, destitute families, child headed families and children of the community. We have also been blessed with 6 volunteers that assist us. The main aim of our institution is to fight poverty, to try and have an educated youth and to make sure that children are always kept safe. It is against this background that, we request your organisation to fund our home with all our needs, to help sustain and keep the home running that way we can reach out to more families and children. Your support to this undertaking will go a long way in enhancing the quality of life and education for our poor Africans. Fountain Of Love orphanage currently has 42 orphans and abandoned children that currently live at the home and due to limited space we have 10 more children that come on a daily basis for clothing, food, safety and education. Education is also something we are very passionate about which is why we also have an after care whereby children from the community together with our children gather every afterschool and we assist them with homework. We also realized just how many children from the community and surrounding informal settlements don’t have the ‘luxury’ of getting 3 meals a day. We then decided to provide at least one meal for these children. Our home provides lunch to more than 100 children, we provide for the destitute, children who are infected and affected by HIV, children who were abandoned by their biological parents and were left to be raised by their grandparents or other family members. Our home thrives at providing food, toiletries, clothes, and other life surving tools to the community. Through research we have identified child headed homes and destitute families. We then took on the challenge of trying to provide for these families. We give food parcels to the elderly and the above-mentioned families. We also provide sanitary towels to young girls, our home prides itself for this initiative because we reach out to a larger amount of community members. Safety for children is also a priority which is why we have collaborated with the Katlehong North Police Station. We have opened our home to lost or neglected children, after a child has been reported at the police station, they are brought to our home for food, bath and clothes. We keep the child up until someone comes forward to claim them. We are also a place of safety for children. Our home has a lot of responsibilities and it is not easy running and maintaining a center that does so much with so little at hand. There’s so much more that we need due to all the commitments that we have made to our community. We would be very grateful if your institution can assist us as we also have so many other people that depend on us.
