Plants And Pillars Schools Awareness Program

As per the organisations vision of building a morale generation, we believe that the Zulu term that says “lugotshwa lusemanzi” which simple means, people must be groomed at a young age. The This will assist us in achieving our vision of building and equipping a morale generation, through visiting schools and educate them about the domestic and gender-based violence which also leads to health issues, bullying and sexual abuse.

This program will help students learn skills they will use to make healthy choices throughout their lifetime. Effective result in positive changes in behaviour that lower student risks around: alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, injury prevention, mental and emotional health, nutrition, physical activity, prevention of diseases and sexuality and family life. Due to Covid 19 these programs were interrupted but we managed to reach two schools in Durban before the lockdown. PROGRAM PLAN HIV/AIDS This will highlight the impact of HIV/AIDS on young people and teach them more about it and how to support and manage people with HIV/Aids BULLYING The aim of this talk is to Raise awareness of all members of the school community - children & young people, parents and school staff about the harm that bullying causes and how children & young people can be protected, including solutions to the problem of rising incidents of bullying. SEXUAL ABUSE One of the many things that need to be considered in our work with young people is the number of young men and women who have experienced some form of sexual abuse at some point in their lives. Sexual abuse severely breaks natural barriers necessary to maintaining a good self and body image. If a child is violated by a trusted adult it contributes to mistrust, confusion, self-doubt, and moral ambiguities. In this talk, we will be addressing them on how to know if you are being sexually abused and the importance of telling someone about what you are going through.
