Eyomphakathi Community Centre

Eyomphakathi Foundation launched the Eyomphakathi Community Centre with the aim to spread its hand to work for the betterment of youth and women in the best possible way by working to further gender equality and women’s empowerment, and to address the physical and emotional consequences of gender-based violence.

This project programmes offers psychosocial assistance, Eyomphakathi Community Centre programmes offer Trauma Counselling, HIV/AIDS Counselling & Management, Gender-Based Violence Support Groups, as well as Skills Development and promote the right of all women and girls to live free of violence and abuse. Our Centre also aims to assist Universities in providing the Psychology students with onsite training. But since the Covid outbreak Eyomphakathi Foundation was not able to proceed with the Centre due to lack of funds The mission of the ECC is aligned with the Eyomphakathi Foundation vision of building and equipping a moral generation. ECC is a community wellness centre that provides physical health services, psychological services and social support services. The main aim of ECC is that women, children, men and LGTB, who are domestic abuse victims and perpetrators living in KwaZulu Natal, get assistance and enjoy a high quality of life and be able to achieve their economic, social and educational goals. They must also be able to deal with the emotional stress, harm and/or trauma of what has happened through violence, crime and socio-economic conditions, be able to cope with life and start living again. The following services are made available to the community: • TRAUMA COUNSELLING - Our Counsellors are based in our Durban Office, South Africa. Top 4 reasons for calling our team are rape, domestic violence, death and threatened suicide. Service Include o Face-to-face trauma counselling with our specialist Trauma Counselling team. o Critical incident management and emotional support o Referral to specialist network of psychologists and psychiatrists if required. • HIV/AIDS COUNSELLING & MANAGEMENT - This is a private conversation with our specially trained person aimed at helping you to help yourself. This encourages you to explore possible solutions to your problems, and to consider the impact that certain decisions may have on your life. This includes pre-testing counselling, post-testing counselling and on-going counselling • GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUPS - A support group provides an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, or first-hand information about how to overcome such. • MOBILE WELLNESS CLINIC – Aims ensure that more people have primary and diagnostic healthcare brought closer to their homes, whether they live in towns, townships, informal settlements or rural areas especially for elderly, grave sick and in the rural areas. The convenience of a mobile unit to be at any location ensures no citizen is left without access to healthcare. This will also enable Eyomphakathi Foundation to travel around the KZN Rural areas and school to raise awareness and assist the community in matters concerning social and health issues • SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE - A community-based resource dedicated to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged community to improve their employability and self-employment opportunities through quality Skills Development Programs, and aid in personal development.
