Trap picture!

We caught some pictures of the animals around us during the night.

We have recently set up camera traps in strategic locations around our camp and throughout the reserve to observe nocturnal animal activity. These camera traps have been carefully placed near water sources and natural animal pathways to maximize our chances of capturing wildlife behavior. Near the camps, we have already observed some interesting species. Genets, jackal, civet porcupines, and nyala have been spotted, likely attracted by the presence of humans and the potential availability of food scraps near the camps. Additionally, we have seen herds of buffalo, giraffes, and even our own horses, all of which appear to be seeking out water. The dry winter season has made water scarce in the reserve, prompting these animals to gather near watering holes and rivers. Camera traps allow us to show volunteers and children the animals that inhabit our surroundings, emphasising the need for vigilance and awareness.
