Jason's Snakes: Inspiring Change and Conservation
This year, DAKTARI hosted Jason, a passionate volunteer who brought four exotic snakes to enhance environmental education. Jason’s enthusiasm extended to local schools, where he taught children about the vital role of snakes in nature, inspiring even hesitant students to interact with them. Jason proposed a bold fundraising campaign, encouraging schools to compete in raising funds, with the promise of a week of environmental education for the top school. To everyone’s surprise, the initiative raised nearly R10,000, even from schools new to DAKTARI. This success highlights the growing impact of DAKTARI’s work in fostering environmental awareness and community engagement. As we approach 20 years of dedication, Jason’s efforts exemplify the power of collaboration, inspiring the next generation to protect their natural heritage.
