Boris, the new guest at DAKTARI!

An orphaned baby warthog arrived in our camp last month, with one injured leg.

A baby warthog arrived in our camp last month, after we got a call that he was found alone next to a road in a nearby property. Our neighbors know it is the right time to call us so we can choose whether to take care of him or find somewhere to release him in the wild. Sadly, one of his legs was injured so he was limping badly. In order to solve that we took him to the vet so he can receive the proper care. Happily, it was nothing too bad as he now runs around the camp, but the vet decided he needed a cast for the next couple of weeks, to be sure he stopped limping faster. He is getting special attention to make sure he settles nicely in his new environment. He is being fed every 4 hours during the day. He was already a good boy when we received him and slept through the night. That is always better for our animal manager who welcomed him in his room for its first weeks here. Now that his leg is much better, this cute baby is developing a huge character. This is a great opportunity for the children to get to know the warthog by taking care of him and be able to be close to him. Your support helps us provide him the care and the food to let him grow up to be a strong warthog and hopefully be released when he comes of age.
