More about Bombani Shelter for Abused Women and Children

Bombani Shelter envisions a community free from abuse and violence, providing a temporary therapeutic residential care program for abused women and children. Our mission is to offer counseling, skills development, and advocacy services, fostering healing, empowerment, and independence among survivors. The services offered by the organization are underpinned by a commitment to quality, professionalism, ubuntu, respect, honesty, accountability, and cooperation. The Shelter operates 24/7 as a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) center and rape crisis facility, collaborating with local first responder organizations. We offer crucial support to women from diverse backgrounds who are survivors of abuse. Our program includes mandatory weekly individual and group counseling sessions to address trauma and empower survivors. These sessions provide a foundation for women to navigate the challenges stemming from abuse and develop essential life skills. Additionally, the Shelter serves as a pathway to justice by assisting survivors in accessing legal and advocacy services. We empower women with knowledge of their rights, facilitate legal connections, and provide emotional support during legal processes, advocating for fair treatment and accountability within the justice system.
